Altitude Changes
by Syd Maher
Identifies with the nation of Syria
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
speeding up till the nose,
points up above the horizon line,
Bismillah, I repeat
As the altitude increases to the heavens,
The floor vibrates as we change course,
I pray for safety and for Allah,
to protect and guide us,
bless the pilots and allow us,
to heed his creations from afar;
The red tip of the wing is visible,
a dove is flying with us,
We can see a cotton blanket below,
covering the trees and cities,
And stay above it for some time,
trace the droplets upon the window;
Soon, we descend through the cotton,
the grey nimbuses engulf the wings,
the flaps come down,
slow down for the jolt upcoming,
when we land,
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem;
We see a gloomy Istanbul,
shielded away from the sun,
yet one mosque has a ray of sunshine,
highlighting its presence,
the cars are bigger, distinct,
Bismillah, we are closer,
the jolt comes,
Alhamdulillah, we arrived at our destination,
with Allah's eyes upon us.
