Of course! Qafiyah Review recognizes that people from, or identify with a diaspora from, a M.E.N.A country come from different backgrounds and lineages. We promise to embrace the backgrounds and cultures of all writers and artists that submit.

Nope, we welcome submissions from all around the globe. The M.E.N.A diaspora takes up at least 5% of the world’s population, with around 20 million people living outside the Middle East and North Africa.

It is an acronym for Middle Eastern North African or South West Asian North African. It represents 27 countries (listed on the submission page) and the cultures/identities of people who are from, or in the diasporas of, them.

Qafiyah Review takes work from all languages as long as there is an English translation to accompany it.

Qafiyah Review accepts previously published work and asks for non-exclusive archival rights to accepted work. Simultaneous submissions are welcomed, but please notify us via email if your piece is accepted elsewhere as soon as possible.

Not at all, your writing can be based on whatever you want it to be. As much as we love to read about culture and identity, we value writing based on a variety of topics. Whether you submit a sci-fi flash fic, or a CNF based on one of your favorite memories, we welcome your work and can't wait to read it.
